FAQs

What is a refurbished laptop?

Refurbished laptops are used computers that often have been reconditioned, either by the manufacturer or a reseller. A used laptop is returned by the customer because they weren't satisfied with it or there was an error in the order. Most refurbished laptops were only out in the world for a few weeks before they were sent back.

Why are refurbished laptops cheaper?

By law, refurbished items have to be labelled as such when they're resold. Naturally, many customers just prefer a new laptop straight from the factory. That desire for newness shows in the difference in prices for new and refurbished laptops, similar to the way a new car loses value immediately after you drive it home from the dealership.

What's involved in the refurbishing process?

Refurbishing depends on the condition of the returned item. A refurbished laptop may have the hard drive erased or replaced. New operating system installed. If the laptop screen is excessively scratched, it will be replaced. Once the laptop is tested to make sure it works, it's labelled as refurbished and advertised for sale.
